Holy Communion is a gift from God! As with any gift that God bestows, it is given with no strings attached-there is nothing that you can do that makes us more or less worthy to receive the gift. When you or your child receives a gift, it is natural to want to know all about what it is, how it works, and what to do with it. That is what the First Communion Preparation class is designed to teach your child.
It has been the tradition at St. Paul that first communion instruction occurs when the parents and the child feel the time is right (usually around the 3rd grade). Pastor conducts several weekly classes for children and parents during the Lenten season. Each session is 45 minutes and is held on either a Monday or Tuesday evening.
Children receive Holy Communion the first time on the Sunday following Easter at our blended traditional/contemporary 11 a.m. worship. There is also a special celebration is held during the coffee hour in fellowship hall.
Please speak to Pastor Rhonda if you are interested in having your child participate in this program.
