
October 31, 2017 will mark the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther posting the Ninety-Five Theses. This significant Reformation anniversary will make Martin Luther and the Lutheran tradition a topic of conversation throughout 2017. Lutheran churches throughout the world are already making plans to commemorate this special event.
Christ alone, grace alone, faith alone, scripture alone – these are foundational Lutheran principles that emerged from the Reformation 500 years ago, and they continue as centerpieces of our identity as Lutherans today. In commemorating the beginning of the Reformation in 2017, we will explore what these basic principles mean for mission in our complex 21st Century world, and how we continue faithfully to speak today with a Lutheran voice.
